Oh I was so proud of my mate Andy. The launch went incredibly well, the band rocked my socks. The story tellers had me enthralled with their varied takes on the concept 'Passive Aggressive'. The visual interpretation by all the photographers was also inspiring. Below are a couple images i submitted for the exhibition.

My idea was to bring together two images one that stimulated an aggressive emotion response or interpretation. And the other a passive response. The results surprised even myself.

Also there will be photography exhibited by three very talented ladies Bec Gallo, Mel Pragassen and Yonah Festinger to accompany the spoken word.

All work on the evening is loosely based on the theme of passive aggressive.

And as if that wasnt enough, all the money raised goes towards CuriousWorks' programs empowering disadvantaged communities across Australia to have a self-defined, sustainable voice.
This fundraiser will be held under a NSW fundraising certificate at the CuriousWorks HQ.

It will be 10 bucks for entry (drinks available there too)

Nothing better on a saturday then picking up some fresh market eggs. As coy as my fuzzy friends seems in the image below, just prior to the snapping of these pic she did have two of the woolly egg coasters against her chest, visually depicting our collective cup sizes.

The creator of these delicate delights boast the quality of her product. All made from 100% wool and will not burn if you set fire to it. Her strangest order yet...... a bacon scarf with a fried egg nestled onto the end of it.

Oh the inner west insight around every corner. Pick yourself up some woolly bits Saturday morning at Glebe markets.

An unexpected encounter with The Potbelleez by an elevator today reminded me of the music video i worked on with Brendan Cook & Darryn Rogers whilst at PictureDRIFT. The extremely digital labour intensive clip had the three us entranced by the sweeping colours for weeks after delivery.

As the film tackles the subject of online activism, we decided that the logical home for ‘Coalition of The Willing’ is here online. Between the start of February and the beginning of June 2010, Coalition of the willing was released in sections onto this website. Groups of sections were released roughly every 2-3 weeks, with the final completed film going online at the start of June. This un-conventional release strategy allowed us to build and engage with an audience whilst the film itself was being made. “coalitionfilm” has now become an online environmental brand in itself, with contributors Tweeting and Facebooking every day about issues discussed in the film; environmentalism, open source culture and swarm politics. PLAY/REVIEW // Splendour In The Grass

A splendid affair indeed. There is certainly something awesome about being at a place for 4 days with 33,000 other people who, like you, have nowhere they would rather be in the world. You’re all on the same schedule and mission.

From the get go it was a surreal event. I arrived at the airport, having culled my belongings down to bare essentials I realised, just as I was checking into my already boarding flight, I had left my ID at home. PURE MAGIC & fudging great people resolved the seeming buzz threatening revelation.

The shuttle bus ride from Bris Vegas airport to woodford was yet another remarkable event. A coach filled with like minded music enthusiast on a trip that is meant to take 45mins hit traffic along the single road in to the event and lasted for an entertaining 4 hours. Our driver (the dad-like comedian) made the ride easy and offered us a more financially viable form of entertainment by playing his harmonic for us. People on the road ditched their vehicles and took to walking in a Woodstock-esk manner we were past by musicians carrying instruments on their heads, couples strolling as though they were the only two people on earth and a dog.

Half the Titanic later, we arrived.

It was on….Treking across two massive hills from tent to festival grounds, establishment of safe place (just in case we loose each other). Continuous drinking of mid strength beverages from midday till the wee hours. Dancing 2 inches deep in mud. The running between one incredible act to another. My favourite parts were one the 5 minute conversations with complete strangers, its funny how much people will divulge when they know you are not likely to ever meet again.

Musical highlights? Its fudging hard to tell. Loved Grizzly Bear, always carve up a storm to Cloud Control, Florence is incredible, Miike Snow, Hot Chip & Goldfrapp had the crowd unite in a dance frenzy. Jonsi- euphoric. Tame Impala – Intensely hallucinating. The Strokes- trip down memory lane. There is soooo much more, the worst part about this line up – it was so awesome that it broke your heart as you couldn’t physically be everywhere.

Another incredible part of festivals are the number stories that evolve at once. In this case 33,000 different outcomes from the same time, same location. Mine? In a nutshell?....... Epic journey. An encounter with an old belt and an elbow touch. Dance, dance & drinking in different arenas, with different people. A visit to first aid (for a friend). Blinking tree heads. Tent meetings. Monkey man. A massive sensory explosion..... Lets face it, I have no final words. All I know is that i returned to work more zen than a sloth being hand fed at the zoo & days later I am still recalling some fleeting moments.

This is one of those events that proves Sydneys art & culture to be alive & kicking. (Take than oh wondeful Melbourne!) The Underbelly Arts Festival running from the 8th-17th of July opens the doors to The Lab (artist studios) around the Chippendale area that are usually closed to the public.

Along side studio tours are an array of sensory stimulating events, installations, artworks in progress, film, sound art & projection, performances, dance, puppetry & interactive exhibitions. Some events are freebies others need some pennies and pre-planning so check out the festival website for event info & tix.

Again i was lucky to be invited to profile another wonderful local artist in her studio to promo her exhibition at Arthouse Gallery.

Working primarily with distressed and discarded materials, Lochtenberg Williams reworks and re-crafts painted wood, plastic and metal to create evocative interior worlds and landscapes.

OH! My little love 'GPS' screens tomorrow night at the St Kilda Film Festival Opening. Written & directed by Sam Bryant, Art Direction and design by yours truely ;)

The production spanned over 5 shooting days in maze like locations, with torrential weather, bogged vehicles, emergency flares & psychotic sugar eating possums. But the end result? Totally worth it!!

Working with Director fine feathered Sam Bryant & accomplice in slime Dan Jackson we locked ourselves away in a dark room for over a week with hundreds of slime critters. Meet one of my lost loves Thomson the leading kookie character in Sam Bryant's shortGPS. After a month off of work i returned to the funtastic news that the film had won 2 Flickerfest awards at the 2010 festival. My roles in the film was that of Art Director, Designer & Animator.... working under the direction of my fine feathered friend Sammy B. A massive congrats goes out to the editor, as well as the entire cast & crew that dedicated many long hours to bring the film to life.

"The Avid Award for Best Editing in An Australian Short Film was awarded to editor Mark Burnett, who edited comedy GPS, from director Sam Bryant and producers Andrew Morris, Lucas Jenner and Lawrence Foster. The film also won the SBS Television Award, with SBS purchasing the title for broadcast." Quoted from the Flickerfest website

Sooooo there is a girl i know, she is quite the clever cookie. A wonderful whimsical women of ideas. IN FACT thats her title at Modular.... 'Art Director of Ideas' I fudging love that.

Anyhow she is heavily involved in music and is constantly trying to share the love. Below are details of a project she has worked tirelessly on over the last few months in collaboration with the fudging fantastic people at the Sydney Festival.

'Circa 1979 : Signal to Noise' explores the music from 1979 to 1985 where Avant garde, post-punk, new wave & early electronic styles of music were thriving in an underground scene and shaking up our sweet little city. The Sydney Festival sessions bring us talks, gigs, films, forums & dust covered art from the archives. I don't know about you? But old rock photography always warms my heart.

Another Parklife episode. Again filming with my comrade in festival frolicking Ant McPhail and our trusty producer in the field Alex, we took on Sov. First impressions were that the Lady was going to be a challenge but in the end..... she was a fudging great gal, i would have a Sambuca with her any day! In total there were 4 artist we interviewed and filmed over 2 days. Will post the next two soon. Massive thanks again to Ant for the final ensemble.

In January this year i took part in an exhibition put together by the Noun Collective 'A Murder of Crows' illustrated collective nouns by a sketch of artists. It began by meeting up with a group of friends i had worked with all of us wanting a creative outlet outside of our work So the wonderful Mim & Jules took the reins and developed the means for us to express ourselves through animal collective nouns. The word spread.... the collective grew & the exhibition was a fudging awesome explosion of interpretations and mediums. Thankyou to all our friends that came and supported the display. REVIEW// Cloud Control

Last nights Cloud Control gig at the Annandale was fudging great. It was one of those shows that draws together a happy crowd, it was a massive love-fest..... nothing seedy it was as though everyone was breathing in the verve, especially the beat loving gentleman in the front row. I am not going to pretend i know a great deal about music, but i do know that i like this collective of three males and one finely frocked female. I would compare some of their songs to the likes of Belle & Sebastien..... their tracks are quite diverse so don't take that as a definitive description. Listen for yourself & support a fudging great sydney act.
